I'm a freelance writer and editor based in Texas. I write about travel, food and drink, sustainability, and lifestyle topics. I travel often in search of stories, and some of my favorite adventures so far include cruising through Germany while learning about Jewish culture, exploring Switzerland via a solo train trip, discovering Peru's beautiful Sacred Valley and the mysteries of Machu Picchu, learning to ski in Canada with an Olympian, swimming with sea turtles in Maui, exploring the Arctic Circle in Finland, and setting foot on Antarctica.
My work has appeared in Travel + Leisure, Southern Living, National Geographic, Conde Nast Traveler, Texas Highways, Texas Co-op Power, SFGate, and more. I focus on editorial pieces, commerce and sponsored content, blogs, fact checking, and social and branded content.
Through September 2016, I was the assistant editor at American Way magazine, American Airlines in-flight magazine with a monthly readership of 16 million. I wrote and edited an array of copy about travel, opinion pieces, and entertainment. Before I became a staff member at American Way, I was an editorial intern where I wrote, fact checked, pitched story ideas, and more. My passions are magazine writing and traveling, and I'm enjoying a career that allows for both.
I graduated from the Mayborn School of Journalism at the University of North Texas with a master's degree in journalism in May 2015. My focus areas in graduate school were narrative journalism and photojournalism.
In May 2013, I received a bachelor's degree from Tarleton State University with concentrations in public relations and event management and minors in technical writing and business.
